The following sections provide an overview of the functions needed for creating new models in ADONIS NP.
To create a new model:
On the toolbar at the top of the screen, click New .
Select a model type. The model is created and simultaneously opened in the graphical editor.
Now you can start placing objects on the drawing area.
Your ADONIS NP administrator may define a set of recommended model and object types. They will be displayed in the Recommendations pane.
If no recommended elements have been configured, the Recommendations pane is not shown.
Find What You Need
To help you quickly find the artefact you want to create, the following options are available:
Search for a Model or Object Type
In the Search box, type the text you want to search for. All model and object types that contain the search string in their name are displayed. To clear the search filter, click the icon .
Filter by Topic
Click the button , select the topic you want, and then click Apply. You can display a topic-specific selection of model and object types. Additionally, you can display all models or all objects.
Create Models Directly in the Model Catalogue
Alternatively, you can create models directly in the Model Catalogue:
Select the model group in which the model shall be created.
Right-click the model group, and then click Create model.
The Drawing Area
As soon as a (new or saved) model is opened in the graphical editor, a drawing area appears. All modelled objects and connectors are shown there.
The Modelling Bar
Whenever a model is shown in the graphical editor where you have write access, ADONIS NP activates the modelling bar. It contains icons for all object types that are available in the current mode of the active model. Thus, the look of the modelling bar varies widely.
The modelling bar is divided into two parts: The top end holds the general function icons (e.g. Edit, Create relation) and below them the available object types are displayed.
ADONIS NP gives you several options for saving a model.
To save changes to a model:
Click the Save button in the menu bar of the model.
Enter a name and version for the model and define a target group if you are saving it for the first time.
To create a copy of the model with a new name (or version):
Click the down arrow symbol in the Save button .
Select Save as from the drop-down menu.
Change the name or version of the model.
Define the target group for the new model.
Click OK. The model is created and simultaneously opened in the graphical editor.
What model types can you assign a version to? That depends on the Application Library and product configuration. In the ADONIS BPMS Application Library, this functionality is available for all model types except:
Business Process Diagrams and Process Landscapes (when the model release workflow is enabled, because then the version is set automatically)
If a model only allows read access, the Save button is replaced by the Save as button in the menu bar of the model.
Once a model is no longer required for work, you should close it to improve clarity.
