Understand & Analyse Processes Using the AI Assistant

The AI Assistant in ADONIS provides powerful analytical capabilities for processes. Depending on the scenario, the assistant offers two modes: Understand and Analyse.

  • Understand: Available in the "Read & Explore" scenario, this mode allows you to ask the AI Assistant questions to grasp the essence of a process model. Interact directly with the model to understand its purpose, responsibilities, or key steps more easily.

  • Analyse: If you’re working in the "Design & Document" scenario, you’ll have access to all the capabilities of the Understand mode and can additionally pose advanced analytical questions—about simulation, optimisation, flow logic, or cost—to assess how your process can be improved.

To use the AI Assistant, you must be working with Business Process Diagrams and have access to the ADONIS Enterprise Edition.

To understand and analyse a process using the AI Assistant:

  1. Open a Business Process Diagram:

    • The model can be opened in the graphical editor, the textual view, or the tabular editor.

    • Click the AI Assistant button .

    • The AI Assistant will open on the right side of the program window.

  2. Switch to the Analyse tab if needed:

    • If you have write access to the model ("Design & Document" scenario), you’ll see both the Design and Analyse tabs.

    • If you only have read access ("Read & Explore" scenario or write-protected models), no tabs are shown and the analysis features are directly available.

  3. Select a predefined question to get started. These differ based on the scenario:

    • Understand mode ("Read & Explore"):

      • What is this process about?

      • What are the main steps and their sequence?

      • Who are the key participants or roles involved?

    • Analyse mode ("Design & Document"):

      • Which tasks in this process do not add value?

      • What potential does the process have for automation?

      • What are the main risks associated with the process?

    • Click Show more suggestions... to replace the current questions with a new set of similar suggestions.

  4. You can also type your own questions freely:

    • Use the free text field at the bottom (Ask anything about the process...).

    • Ask in natural language, just like you would speak to a colleague.

    • You can enter up to 1,000 characters.

    In Understand mode, complex analytical questions (e.g. simulation, optimisation, flow logic, or cost analysis) are not supported. For these, use the Analyse mode in the "Design & Document" scenario

  5. Make use of what the AI tells you:

    • If you're a designer with write access and the AI suggests improvements, go ahead and apply them! Use the graphical editor to place objects, or edit the properties of the process and the objects within.

    • If you’re a reader and still have questions or ideas, leave a comment so the responsible colleagues can respond.
