The AI assistant is only available in the ADONIS Enterprise Edition.

For information on how to use the AI assistant, please refer to the sections "Generate Process Proposals Using the AI Assistant" and "Understand & Analyse Processes Using the AI Assistant" in the User Manual.

Process Drafter: Create Process Proposals – No Expertise Required

With the Process Drafter, we are introducing a guided approach that simplifies process modelling. In fact, it even allows users without prior experience in modelling notations to capture the processes they take part in during their daily work.

Instead of starting with a graphical diagram, you define the process step by step in a tabular view. Add a trigger, the steps involved, and the end result of the process. The intuitive wizard will help you enter and update the necessary information, ensuring all essential details are included. Once you are satisfied, ADONIS can automatically generate a graphical process model for you.

Process Drafter

Whether you're an experienced modeller or a beginner, the Process Drafter will help you build clear, well-structured processes effortlessly.

note

The Process Drafter is only available in the ADONIS Enterprise Edition.

For information on how to use the Process Drafter, please refer to the "ADONIS Process Drafter Guide".

ADONIS PME: Intuitive and Easy-to-Use Process Mining

The powerful new ADONIS Process Mining Essentials (PME) add-on for ADONIS helps you take your first steps toward operational excellence by focusing on essential process mining features and ease of use.

PME Overview tab

PME offers three key capabilities that support different phases of the Process Management Lifecycle (PMLC):

  • Process Discovery: Automatically extract and visualise your business processes from event log data. Uncover the true flow of activities within your organisation and gain valuable insights into how work is actually executed.

  • Conformance Checking: Compare observed behaviour in an event log with the expected process to identify deviations and ensure compliance with business rules and regulations.

  • Process Performance Management: Continuously track and analyse process efficiency by measuring key performance indicators (KPIs), empowering you to make data-driven decisions and optimise processes.

Contact your ADONIS consultant for a demo of ADONIS PME and discover how this ADONIS add-on can help you transform your strategy, enhance efficiency, and drive smarter decisions.

note

PME is an optional, licensable add-on module for ADONIS 17.0 or higher now available on the ADONIS Marketplace. It is only available in the ADONIS Enterprise Edition.

For information on how to use PME, please refer to the "ADONIS Process Mining Essentials (PME) Guide".

Additional Improvements to Existing Features

Other minor improvements include:

  • Read & Explore > Documents: Previously, clicking the "Usage" link next to a Document icon Document in this dashboard opened a simple dialogue showing which models referenced it. Now, this link opens the full References dialogue, part of the usage analysis functions in ADONIS. This extended dialogue allows you to check all incoming and outgoing references of the Document icon Document.
  • Read & Explore > My BPM > RACI: The Input and Output columns of this dashboard have been extended. Previously, they only displayed which Document icon Documents were referenced in the listed Task icon Tasks. Now, they also include referenced Attribute icon Attributes, Entity icon Entities and Resource icon Resources. Thank you for the feedback Ms. Laha!

New Features for Users of the ADONIS BPMS Application Library

Report Improvements

Reports Now Display Relation Properties

In ADONIS 17.0, standard reports and QM reports now also include the properties of relations (Relation properties icon) to models and objects, providing a more comprehensive view of your data.

Example: You have assigned Control Objective icon Control Objectives to a Business Process Diagram icon Business Process Diagram using the Assigned control objectives relation (found in the "Compliance" chapter). In the relation properties, you performed a maturity assessment, setting the as-is and to-be maturity levels. Previously, these values were omitted from reports. Now, in ADONIS 17.0, both maturity levels are included, ensuring your reports capture all relevant information.

Relation properties in reports

QM Reports: Missing Input/Output Properties Added

Previously, when generating a QM report based on a Business Process Diagram icon Business Process Diagram, the model properties Input - quality requirements and Output - quality requirements (found in the "Input/Output" chapter) were unintentionally omitted. In ADONIS 17.0, this issue has been resolved, and these properties are now correctly included in the report.

Methodical Improvements

Resource: New Relations for Managing Risks and Controls

To align Resource icon Resources with other repository objects and enable the assignment of Risk icon Risks and Control icon Controls, we have extended their properties:

  • New "Risks" chapter:
    • Added relation: Assigned Risks
  • New "Controls" chapter:
    • Added relation: Implemented Controls

Business Process Diagram: "Process Type" Attribute Renamed to "Process Type (Level of Abstraction)"

We identified a naming conflict in the properties of Business Process Diagram icon Business Process Diagrams, where two attributes shared the same name:

  • One in the "Classification" chapter, used to select the corresponding ISO 9000 process type.

  • Another in the "Properties" chapter, under "Process Attributes", which specifies the level of abstraction modeled by the process.

To resolve this naming conflict, the second attribute has been renamed to Process Type (Level of Abstraction).

Intermediate Event (Sequence Flow): Now a "Throw" Event by Default

To align with the BPMN Specification, we have updated the default value of the Type attribute in the "Event Type" chapter of Intermediate Event (sequence flow) icon Intermediate Events (sequence flow). Previously set to "catching", it now defaults to "throwing".

Subprocess: Properties Consolidated

Previously, the Open questions, Action required, and Reason attributes appeared in different chapters depending on the type of object: for Task icon Tasks, they were located in the "Continuous improvement" chapter, while for Subprocess icon Subprocesses, they were found under "Changes".

To improve consistency and usability, these attributes are now also located in the "Continuous improvement" chapter for Subprocess icon Subprocesses.

Process: Show or Hide Referenced Documents Icon

Process icon Processes show a small pictogram when they reference any Document icon Documents.

Referenced Documents pictogram

For users who prefer a cleaner appearance or want their Process icon Process objects to occupy less space, a new attribute has been introduced in the "Representation" chapter:

  • Show symbol for referenced documents: Allows you to toggle the visibility of the document reference icon.

Validation Check Improvements

The validation functions in ADONIS allow you to verify whether models and objects comply with the modelling guidelines. In the ADONIS BPMS Library 17.0, we have improved and extended the validation checks as follows:

  • Pool icon Pool: If a diagram contains one or more pools, each pool — except black-box pools — must have one start event and at least one end event. A new validation check has been introduced to enforce this rule.

  • Pool icon Pool: Pools must not be nested inside other pools. If you need hierarchy within a pool, use lanes instead. A new validation check highlights this modelling error.

  • Exclusive Gateway icon Exclusive Gateway and Non-exclusive Gateway icon Non-exclusive Gateway: Event Gateways can be used to instantiate a process. In such a case they must not have any incoming Sequence Flows. Compliance with this rule is ensured by a new validation check.

  • Document icon Document and Process icon Process: Are you using the document release workflow or the model release workflow? In ADONIS 17.0, when you attempt to archive an object that has incoming references, the warning now includes a clickable "References" link. This allows you to quickly view the affected incoming references directly from the notification.

New Features for ADONIS Administrators

AI Assistant: Enable Design & Analysis

ADONIS administrators can enable both main capabilities of the AI Assistant, Design and Analysis, independently. Simply enter your OpenAI API key and select your preferred AI model, and you are good to go.
